Privacy policy (KVKK)

Data controller: Ütopik Oyunlar (games.utopical.dev) is a site of Utopical Dev, run by Murat Demir ("we"). You can reach us through the contact details at the end of this page.

Data we process: we ask for no account, e-mail address or password. When you play, we process the name you type, what you write in a game (poems, Name Place Animal answers, chat messages, and the words or categories its host chooses) and what you give in it (hearts, reactions, votes and guesses). Your browser gets an anonymous session, a random identifier that lets a game recognise you. To protect the site against bots, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise processes technical signals from your device and browser. Firebase Hosting, the Google service that delivers the site, sees your IP address, as every web server does.

Purpose and legal basis: we process this data only to run the game you join, which means showing what you write to its players, and to protect the site from abuse. The legal basis is that the processing is necessary to provide the game you asked for, and our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (KVKK article 5/2-c and 5/2-f). Analytics runs only with your consent (see the cookie policy).

Sharing: we do not sell your data, combine it with data from other sources, or use it for advertising. Your poems and messages are shown to the players of the same game. A finished game's poems and answers, with their authors' names, are shown to anyone who has its link for the period chosen for it, and the game's page (its settings and the players' names) opens with the link until it is deleted. The games' content is kept in Google Firebase's Cloud Firestore, on servers in the European Union. The anonymous session, the bot protection and, with your consent, Analytics run on Google's worldwide infrastructure, the United States included. Google processes all of it on our behalf.

Reading aloud: to read a poem aloud, the site uses one of your browser's voices and prefers one on your device. If the voice runs online (as desktop Chrome's Google voices do), your browser sends the poem's text to the voice's provider; the site asks you before such a voice is used.

Retention: a game's poems, answers and messages can be seen for the period chosen when it is created (10 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day), counted from the end of the game. After that nobody can see them, and they are deleted automatically, usually within a day, together with the game's settings and its players' names. A game that is never finished closes the same way, a day and a half at most after it was created. The anonymous session is deleted 30 days after it was created. To slow down abuse, a short record of when you last created a game or sent a message is kept, and deleted a day after the last one.

Your rights: under KVKK article 11 and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may ask whether your data is processed, ask for information about it, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing and withdraw your consent at any time. To use these rights, write to us through the contact details at the end of this page.

Terms of use

Your poems: what you write stays yours. You allow it to be shown to the players of the same game for the chosen retention period; anyone who has the game's link can see it during that period. Poems are not kept beyond it, so copy the ones you love before they fly away.

Playing fair: do not write anything unlawful, insulting or harassing, and do not share anyone's personal data. The host can remove a player from the game, and we remove content that breaks the law once we are notified of it (law 5651).

The word filter: every game hides rude words unless its host switches the filter off when creating it. A game without the filter is for adults only: by switching it off the host, and by ticking the consent box to join, every player declares being 18 or older. In such a game, what is written is shown as written to its players only; anyone else with the link sees it filtered, and so does every shared image. The rules above still apply.

Artificial intelligence: the game uses no AI. Neither the site's content (texts, word lists, design) nor the poems written in it may be used to train AI models or for data mining, and we do not use them for that either.

The site: the game is offered free and as it is. The site's texts, word lists and design belong to Utopical Dev and may not be copied or used commercially without permission.

Cookie policy

The site keeps a few records in your browser (cookies and local storage). The necessary ones and your preferences cannot be refused; the others are used only with your consent.

  • Necessary: the anonymous session that lets a game recognise you (Firebase Authentication), the bot protection (Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise), the Firebase SDK's own technical records, the copy of the site's files your browser keeps so that it opens offline, and short technical marks used when the page reloads. Without them the game cannot be played.
  • Preferences: your theme, your cookie choice and whether you agreed to a read-aloud voice that runs online, kept only in your browser. They only remember what you chose, so like the necessary records they cannot be refused. Your cookie choice is asked again after six months.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (GA4) cookies are optional. Until you accept them, Analytics is not even started: no analytics cookie is written and no data is sent. Once you do, Google Analytics records the pages you open (with their address, a game's link included), your interactions and the errors the site meets, under a random identifier kept in its cookie; your name, poems, answers and messages are not sent to it. These cookies are shared with utopical.dev: if you withdraw your consent, they stay in your browser but are no longer read or written.
  • Advertising: not used yet. If ads come, their cookies too will be used only with your consent.

You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
